SMMART (2005-2008): end-to-end system for mobile maintenance in real-time

SMMART was a 3-year project aiming at increasing aircraft availability, reducing maintenance costs and the risks of civil liability.
SMMART consisted in providing a demonstrator of an integrated system capable of:

1/ Collecting: Data Collection of operation and maintenance from the vehicles and maintenance centers all around the world

2/ Processing: Improvement of the collected data and the reallocation of them, timely, to all maintenance centers all around the world.

3/ Sharing: Offer, thanks to these improved data, innovative services to operators and industrialists in maintenance

2MoRO was one of the main technology providers:

  • Integration methodology and tools,
  • Secured central database with connectors to collect data from aircraft, maintenance centers, nomad mechanics,
  • Added-value functions as configuration control, maintenance planning optimization, etc.

The demonstrator performed as fully compliant more than 85% of the required tasks and hence was a real success.

The project had a budget of 25 MEUR and was co-financed by the European Commission and regional authorities as far as 2MoRO was concerned. SMMART gathered 24 partners across Europe and was coordinated by Turbomeca (Safran group).
